Six weeks

I know I’m not showing yet, but I think this could be fun to document!

Six weeks, aka: I feel terrible but gotta smile through it because nobody’s supposed to know

Date: March 20, 2014
How far along: 6 weeks
Fruit comparison: Lentil
Ben’s comparison: Pencil eraser
Weight gain: 0 lbs
Maternity clothes: Not yet … though my jeans split yesterday so leggings are sounding better and better.
Sleep: Cannot get enough of it! Ten hours is awesome! Let’s go to bed at 8:30! But waking up in the middle of the night with a racing mind every 2-3 nights.
Best moment this week: Recognizing my own weakness and exhaustion, tonight’s yoga class got a 10-minute guided meditation. Many of the students said it made them feel totally relaxed, and having an opportunity to walk them through feeling their breath and appreciate their bodies gave me a new appreciation of my own, for doing all the work that it’s secretly doing.
Craziest dream: My dreams have definitely gotten more vivid and logical. This week I had a 3-night dream about a single person: the first dream we met and had a long conversation; the second dream we bumped into each other again; the third dream I introduced her to Ben. This sounds boring, but the fact that the same fictional character appeared 3 times, with the same name and face? Incredible clarity.
Miss anything: I would say beer for St Patrick’s Day, but it would probably make me nauseous. Plus an awesome coworker made Guinness cupcakes with Bailey’s frosting, so I still got my Paddy’s indulgence.
Cravings: Bland things.
Sickness: Nausea comes and goes. Some mornings I can barely get out of bed (those new-mama Saltines have a dedicated spot on my nightstand), other days I feel great and the queasiness doesn’t start until after lunch.
Looking forward to: First prenatal visit in two weeks!
